The "open" quadrant represents both things that others know and you know about yourself. The information in this window can represent feelings, motives, behaviors, wants, desires, and even needs. Knowing these things can be any where from eye color, gender, or name. |  |
 | This also includes any information describing who you are. An example of this is the well know website facebook and all the information user's post so other's can learn more about them.
When first meeting a person the opening of this first quadrant is not very large, due to the lack of time to exchange information. As the process of getting to know each other continues, the shades of this window will move down or to the right exposing more information. |
